Another toy recall for Mattel, Inc
Sorry, but it is time for me to get on my soap box and rant a little bit about crap products from China.
Here we go again. Mattel, Inc is recalling even more toys because the paint on the toys "containing impermissible levels of lead." This is the third global toy recall from Mattel in the past month or two. And what is the reason for another recall? More crap toys from China. Here is a snip from sify.com
"Globally, Mattel made its third major recall announcement Wednesday in little more than a month because of excessive amount of lead paint in Chinese-made toys and said some 8,000 pieces would be affected by the announcement. "
And this is just what has been caught in the United States. I wonder what kind of crap toys kids in 3rd world countries or getting cancer from. On a global level China doesn't show they care about anything but themselfs. They don't care about pollution or human rights.
I am now going to "try" to stop buying products that are made in China. Notice the "try". It will be very hard to do so here in the USA. Next time you go to Walmart take a look at the non-produce products and see where they come from. When I did this about nintey percent of the things I looked at were China. Forget about 99 cent stores. I bet 99 percent of the products are from China.
Totally blocking out China products will be impossible. But the conscience effort will make a difference. And I will make sure the compaines know about my decisions. When I pass up the China for the non China product I will write to the company and let them know. And what ever comes of it will be posted on this blog.
Ok time to calm down.
As you can tell I am not good at putting my thoughts to words. I will post again later with more thought behind my words.

Goats sacrificed to fix Nepal jet
I like how they stated that the plane was not having any more problems. They didn't say it passed all tests or completed a test flight. No, they flew it to Hong Kong and decided it was ok after that.
From BBC News:
"Nepal's state-run airline has confirmed that it sacrificed two goats to appease a Hindu god, following technical problems with one of its aircraft. "
"The offering was made to Akash Bhairab, the Hindu god of sky protection, whose symbol is seen on the company's planes. The airline said that after Sunday's ceremony the plane successfully completed a flight to Hong Kong. "

English Russia says:
English Russia says:
In Russian children toy stores have appeared strange Chinese dolls looking like a girl-doll but if fully undressed there can be something found that better would suit for a boy-doll.LinkPeople demand to ban those dolls from being sold on the territory of Russia and claim that it maybe done on purpose by some evil forces from outside of Russia in order to form a bad perception of female/male orientation from the early age.
Man endures thumb surgery to better enable iPhone use
Man endures thumb surgery to better enable iPhone use by ZDNet's Russell Shaw -- Definitely this should be filed under “truth is stranger than fiction.” The North Denver News reports that Thomas Martel, 28, of Bonnie Brae, Colorado recently underwent “whittling” thumb surgery to better enable him to use the iPhone. Thomas Martel, 28, of Bonnie Brae is a big guy. So he has a hard time using the [...]
Women Drinking Coffee May Have Better Memories
A new study from France has determined that women, especially over the age 65, who drink 3 cups of coffee per day perform better on memory tests than those who have one or less. Researchers tested 7,000 people for over four years with the results being that those who enjoyed their lattes and/or espressos at least 3 or more times daily were 30% less likely to suffer from memory loss at age 65, and 70% over 80.
Karen Ritchie of INSERM, (the French National Institute for Health and Medical Research) said that men do not get the same boost because “women may be more sensitive to the effects of caffeine…. Their bodies may react differently to the stimulant, or they may metabolize caffeine differently.” Link

Oklahoma offers Global War on Terrorism license plates
From BoingBoing.net:
Oklahoma, determined to uphold its image as a state that begins and ends with a vowel, is now offering Global War on Terrorism license plates that feature a stylized pic of the WTC towers and a ferocious eagle. Take that Osama! Tell me that our custom plates aren't a worse blow to your jihadism than your capture and trial would be! America will win the war on abstract nouns by Christmas, I tell ya! Link

Strange Sign in China
This sign is from a town in China. Apparently it is illegal to have cars that will blow up on this street. I'm sure there is a better explanation for the sign. Check out the flickr user comments here to find out.

The conglomerate of Podshow shows only receive 12,000 downloads a day!
Here is a story stemming from one of the podcasts I listen to. I am posting here just in case the story gets buried at digg.com.
It was established on the latest episode of Keith and The Girl that all the shows on Podshow combined had only 12,000 downloads per day while it was clearly expressed that Keith and The Girl had well over the amount on their own, proving that the multi-million dollar Podshow investment was and is a crock!

Becca's Birthday
We had to take great care when we lit all 34 of Becca's candles, as to not burn down the house. I had a fire extinguisher at hand at all times. Actually, since I don't eat chocolate cake I just got the small cake, which I was barely able to fit all the candles on. By the time we pulled all the candles back off the cake almost all of the top layer of frosting was gone.
